Be women and men of hope!
Be women and men of hope!
This morning, the 1,200 rovers and rangers gathered in Soriano for the last camp day heard a true word of fire from Mgr Jean-Claude Hollerich who celebrated the Holy Mass with them.
“If you go to a garage 40 minutes every week, you will not automatically turn into a car after some time… The same, if you go to Holy Mass every Sunday, you will not automatically turn into a good Christian. Faith must be lived!”
“God gave each of us a powerful mobile phone. You have a lot of apps on it, which help you doing your life. One app you all have is “Scouts of Europe”. But the best mobile phone cannot work if you do not recharge it every day with energy. God is the source of your energy! Get connected to him!” Mgr Hollerich, who presented himself to us as Jean-Claude, gave testimony of his own life: At some point in his youth, he did not know very well if he believed in God or not. But he never stopped going to Holy Mass on Sunday. This weekly practice helped him to pass over this period of inner doubts. “I implore you: go to holy mass on every Sunday to keep connected with God!”
“Hope makes you strong! With hope, you can change the world.” The Archbishop also reminded that sin destroys hope and makes you feel loneliness and despair. “Before changing the world, you need to have the courage to change your heart. Please, be women and men of hope!” An old heart is a heart that has lost the ability to get touched by anything. Guides and Scouts of Europe, you are young, you have so much energy! Let your heart be touched by Christ.
The young people listening to the words of the Archbishop of Luxembourg walked on the Saint Catherine road from Siena during the last days. It’s Providence who wanted that Mgr Hollerich’s words of today should be an invitation to follow the call of Saint Catherine, one of the Euromoot patron saints: “Be who you were created to be, and you will set the world on fire.”
