Greetings Bruno Borde

Euromoot 2019 Rome

Bruno Borde, Federal Commissioner

Dear Rovers and Rangers,

We are arriving at the end of this Road: The 2019 Euromoot. During several days, you had the opportunity to live a true and real experience. First of all, by this journey across Italy (thanks to the Italian association who welcomed us): visiting, observing, discovering, eating, playing, meditating, praying… You were supported by the Saints: St Paul, St Benedict of Nursia, St Catherine of Siena, St Francis of Assisi, and Sts Cyril and Methodius. Secondly, by doing all these activities within the European Scout Family. Through twinnings you had a chance to live our authentic scouting brotherhood which includes all the associations of UIGSE-FSE: from the European continent to the American continent; from fully recognised associations to new brothers and sisters with whom we have had a first contact during this Euromoot.

This 2019 Euromoot is an echo to the first pilgrimage done by UIGSE rovers and rangers in 1975, answering the call of Pope Saint Paul VI, when the first Red branch was launched officially.

Today, we are welcomed by Pope Francis.

So now, what next? As we say in our red branch pedagogy, we haven’t yet arrived: the Rover Departure and the Senior Guide Commitment mean that we are on a new start. Of course, for most of you, it’s an objective for your progression, but it’s also a milestone. It’s a milestone with the great pilgrimage we are doing currently. It’s a pilgrimage in close liaison with the communion of Saints: the Triumphant Church of all saints, the suffering Church of all purifying souls, and the Militant Church of all Christians on earth.

You are going to go back to your country:

Argentina, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Brazil, Canada, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, the USA,

but not only as a scout of your homeland but as a European scout, and you will be the ambassador of Christian Europe to your brother and sister in scouting, but also to all people. Spread out the scout joy around you. Try to find the face of Jesus Christ in every person you meet here or there.

Think also of becoming a leader later on to be able to pass on what you have received. So many young can receive so much from Scouting to become true citizens and true Christians.

Ask the Virgin Mary to bear the prayers of our movement to God.

Parate Viam Domini!
