WE WILL MEET Father Pierre françois

About Fr. Pierre François:

Pierre François was born on 11 May 1957 in Hasselt (Belgium). Until his ordination as a priest on 12 June 1983, he was working as an Engineer in Computer Sciences. He is a priest of the clergy of the Prelature of Opus Dei and also parochial vicar of Saint James’ in Antwerp.

 

He has been working since 1985 as a Chaplain for students in Louvain (Belgium) and Amsterdam (The Netherlands), and attending to several groups of professionals in Antwerp (Belgium) and other cities. He achieved a Ph.D. in theology at the University of Navarre (Spain) on christology, and specialised in liturgy, that he is teaching to several publics. 

 

He is also involved in catechetical teaching on Radio Maria Vlaanderen, and is active in promoting the beauty of liturgy through several forms of art (the so-called Via Pulchritudinis). He speaks French, Dutch, English, Spanish and Italian. He has also some knowledge of German.

 

After six years as National Spiritual Adviser of the Association of the Scouts of Europe of Belgium, he was designed, in February 2019, to become the Federal Spiritual Adviser of UIGSE-FSE. The association is expecting confirmation of his three-year mandate by the Holy See, which will come through the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life, to which the UIGSE-FSE is reporting.

 

During Euromoot, he is not only the religious adviser of the Communications team, but he is also giving a hand for whatever help is needed.

On the day of my Guide Promise, I promised “to do my best to serve God, the Church, my country and Europe.” I was still too young, I did not know all that these words implied, and even today, as an adult, I am discovering every day something new about service and the meaning of this promise.
